Just before midnight on January 22nd, Saanich Police responded to a 911 call from Berwick House located in the Elk Lake area. Staff on duty reported a male attempting to gain entry to Berwick House who was bleeding heavily from stab wounds.
Saanich Police attended and determined the male was the victim of a stabbing and had fled his residence located nearby. The victim was apparently assaulted by his 24 year old son after an argument within the family home.
The Greater Victoria Emergency Response Team was activated as it was believed the son was barricaded inside his residence. After a three hour period of containment by ERT, an alert Traffic Safety Unit officer observed a male running in the vicinity. He was identified as the suspect and arrested without incident having fled the house prior to police arrival.
Saanich Police Major Crime Detectives are investigating this incident and the male will be appearing before a Judical Justice of the Peace Sunday.
Police are recommending charges of Attempted Murder in this matter.
The father sustained stab wounds but they are non-life threatening and a full recovery is expected.
The name of the suspect has not been released as charges are yet to be sworn in this investigation.
