Impounded Vehicle Leads to Threats Arrest

At about 9:30 this morning, a complaint of a male threatening staff members at the Motor Vehicle Branch was received by the Saanich Police. The dispute was a result of the suspect’s vehicle having been impounded in the previous days.

The male used some threatening language to staff and stated that he was going to go to the impound lot, where his vehicle was located. The threat included some reference to weapons.

Patrol officers were dispatched to the impound lot on Tennyson ave, in advance of the male arriving. Officers positioned themselves covertly at the lot to await the suspect’s arrival.

A short time later, the male suspect arrived in a vehicle and given the nature of the threats was challenged by officers with firearms. A 32 year old Saanich resident was taken into custody without any incident.

Officers searched the vehicle the suspect arrived in at the impound lot and located some knives.

A charge of Uttering Threats is being suggested to Crown Counsel. The male suspect has been released on a Promise to Appear and an Undertaking with conditions.
