Vacation Break and Enters

Three break and enters have been reported since July 29th, in the Ten Mile Point area. Two of them were residences where the families were on vacation and two were accessed through the second floor.

  • July 29th– Sea View road- the family was on vacation at the time. A ground floor window was pried open.
  • Aug 1st– Queenswood drive- the family was on vacation. A third floor window was accessed by a ladder on the property.
  • Aug 6th– Tudor ave- a ladder on the property was used to access an upper level window.

Oak Bay Police have also had a total of fifteen break and enters from May 31st to July 25th, many with some similar circumstances. Many were people who were on holidays and many were second floor entries.

Items taken vary from small electronics, jewellery and other easily carried items.

Residents are reminded to make sure that ladders are locked or secured inside garages. As well, make sure that nothing else in the yard may afford access to the second floor windows. Ensure that all your windows are secured regardless if they are on the second floor.
