Busy Crash Day on Sunday

Saanich Police were busy with five collisions between noon and 3:30 p.m. on Sunday afternoon.  There were a total of eleven vehicles involved and several individuals received minor injuries.

At noon the driver of a Ford Ranger was merging from Vanalman Ave onto the southbound Pat Bay Highway.  The truck lost traction on the wet road surface where it struck a concrete barrier and flipped onto its side.  The 59 yr old driver was taken to hospital with a minor hand injury.  (11-23484).

At 12:45 two people received facial airbag injuries after their Mazda sedan struck a large deer while travelling northbound on the Pat Bay Highway at Royal Oak (11-23489).

At 1 p.m. there was a four vehicle collision on Shelbourne Street at Feltham Road.  Two drivers received whiplash injuries.  One of the drivers was charged under the Motor Vehicle Act with speeding relative to the wet road conditions (11-23490).

At 2:30 p.m. three vehicles collided in the northbound lanes of the Pat Bay Highway at Sayward Road.  One driver was taken to hospital for precautionary reasons because she was pregnant, but she was not injured.  One of the drivers was charged under the MV Act with following too closely (11-23496).

At 3:30 p.m. two vehicles collided at the intersection of Gorge Road West and Donald Street.   One of the passengers was a 7 year old girl and she was treated at hospital for minor injuries to her lower back (11-23504).
