Zeke catches liquor store break-in suspects

Two males were charged for two liquor store break-ins in the Quadra and McKenzie area.

At about 1:15 am, Monday morning Nov. 14th, 2011, a glass break alarm was reported to the Saanich Police from the BC Liquor store on McKenzie ave at Borden street. Multiple patrol officers responded to the area along with a police canine.

An alert officer doing perimeter containment of the area spotted four males nearby. The four males were held by the officer at the scene while the police dog tracked.

The police canine Zeke was deployed and immediately began to track the suspects away from the liquor store. The dog then tracked directly to where the four males had been detained. All four were arrested.

While officers were investigating the first break-in, the liquor store at Saanich Centre at Quadra and McKenzie was found to have been entered as well. Investigators viewed video from both stores at the scene and identified the two suspects responsible.

Two male youths have been charged with break and enter. One is a 15 year old from Victoria and the second is a 16 year old from Langford. Both have been released pending future court dates.
