The Saanich Police are currently in discussions with the RCMP regarding the Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit.
Discussions are ongoing between the Saanich Police and the RCMP regarding participation in the Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit. Also a part of the discussions is the Oak Bay Police, with whom Saanich has a contractual relationship for investigative services. The discussions continue to work out the details with a view to entering into an agreement in the near future.
Despite media reports of late, the Saanich Police have never been a part of this unit nor has our participation been confirmed as of yet. The discussions are positive, but they continue and there are many details to be worked out prior to becoming involved.
The Saanich Police look forward to participating in this integrated unit with our regional partners in the near future.
