Drug raids executed

A four month investigation by Saanich Police Street Crime Unit, VicPD Strike Force, the Sidney RCMP GIS and the CFSEU, ended today.

Over the dinner hour this afternoon, a vehicle was stopped and the occupants arrested at Quadra street and Tolmie avenue. The arrests were done in a dynamic fashion by members of the Greater Victoria Emergency Response Team (GVERT).

A short time later, warrants were executed in Saanich in the 4000 block of Kincaid street and in Victoria in the 700 block of Fisgard avenue. Given the potential for risk to the public and officers, the GVERT was used to conduct the raids.

Preliminary searches have been conducted at both locations. Thus far, five different firearms and a quantity of cocaine have been recovered. It appears that two of the firearms are fully automatic and have silencers.

These arrests conclude a four month joint investigation by the Saanich Police Street Crime Unit, the Victoria Police Strike Force, the Sidney RCMP General Investigations Section and the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit.

Three male suspects known to police remain in police custody, two Saanich residents 29 and 31 years of age and a Victoria resident, 24 years of age.
