Rash of recent incidents on Gorge road

There has been a rash of theft and mischief incidents occurring in the area of Gorge road.

A series of incidents involving thefts and mischief have occurred in the 100 block of Gorge road west over the past several days.

  • Dec. 8th: An underground parking lot to a building was entered in the 100 block of Gorge road. Entry was gained to a 2006 Audi that was believed to have been unlocked. Small items were taken.
  • Dec. 9th: Overnight there was an attack to a rooftop skylight in a building in the 100 block of Gorge road. This would have afforded entry to an interior stairwell in the building.
  • Dec. 9th: Police were called by the property manager for three separate buildings in the 100 block of Gorge road. Damage had been done to the three call panels at the main doors. It appears that attempts were made to enter the buildings by breaching the internal magnetic locking system. It is unknown whether entry was gained.
  • Dec. 11th: Saanich Police were called to investigate a building storage locker that had been entered. A storage locker in the basement of the building had been pried open and emptied. Taken was a large quantity of camping gear, lacrosse goalie equipment and field lacrosse equipment. This incident is likely associated to the prior incidents as it was one of the same buildings.

All of these incidents were within two blocks of each other and all targeted apartment or condo buildings. Residents in the area are encouraged to be watchful for suspicious persons or unexplained damage and to report it immediately.

Saanich Police volunteers will be in the area canvassing for Block Watch. If your block is not a member you are encouraged to contact the Saanich Police Block Watch office at 250-475-4321.
