Officer spots crack in plain view

Yesterday evening, traffic officers stopped a car and seized a large quantity of cocaine.

Last night at about 10:30pm, a black Honda Accord travelling too fast for the road conditions at Tillicum and Burnside, drew the attention of two Saanich Police traffic officers. The vehicle was followed and stopped on Harriet road near Burnside road.

While an officer was requesting the license, a bag of white powder was seen on the passenger seat by the second officer. The driver was immediately arrested and removed from the car.

A further search revealed a container with 17 individual packages of rock cocaine, $105 cash and three different cell phones.

The driver, a 31 year old Saanich resident who is known to local agencies, was arrested for possession for the purpose of trafficking in a controlled substance.

He was released with a date to attend court in the near future.
