Disturbing axe incident

Friday night, a tenant chased his landlord with an axe.

April 13th, at about 8:30 pm, a landlord contacted the Saanich Police by 911. The landlord went to serve papers at his residence in the 1700 block of Cedar hill road.

The male tenant answered the door with an axe and took an aggressive posture. The landlord fled with his wife and the suspect proceeded to run after him wielding the axe.

The male threatened to kill the landlord and stated he had a firearm as well.

Responding patrol officers set up a perimeter around the residence. While that was happening the suspect contacted 911 and spoke to the call taker. He was requested to exit the residence and surrender to officers outside.

A second person in the residence exited and was taken into custody as well. When officers entered the residence they found an axe, a cap gun and two sling shots, which were seized.

The tenant was arrested for Assault with a Weapon and Uttering Threats. The 43 year old Saanich resident was released on strict conditions.
