Theft from auto success

At about 5:45am on Friday July 6th, a complaint of car prowlers was received via 9-1-1 from the 700 block of Snowdrop ave.

The complainant was a woman who had got up early to run on her treadmill. While she was running, she was watching two young men carrying reusable shopping bags peering into vehicles on the street. She then saw one open the canopy to the neighbour’s truck and enter the bed.

The witness provided excellent descriptions of the two young men including clothing being worn and direction of travel.

A short distance away on Burnside road, one of the suspects matching the description was located. The 23 year old View Royal resident was arrested and searched. He is well known to police locally and is out on court supervision for a prior conviction of assault with a weapon.

When searched, the suspect was found in possession of a bottle of Bailey’s and a large 8″ filet knife. He also had some tools and a large Dewalt grinder.

Charges being considered include possession of break-in tools, breach of probation for a no alcohol condition, breach of probation for being in possession of a weapon contrary also to an order.
