Scam Alert:
Saanich Police are cautioning residents about an attempted phone scam.
A 60 year old man living in the Carey/McKenzie area was phoned by an unidentified man who falsely claimed to be a worker with the “Saanich Water Department”.
The caller stated that the credit card used to pay the man’s municipal utility bill had been compromised – and requested alternate credit card information in order to pay for the man’s water bill.
The scam did not work and the caller hung up. Residents are reminded not to ever reveal their credit card information by phone in this type of situation.
