Theft Of Kayaks From A Cordova Bay Beach

Saanich Police are asking residents to be on the lookout for two kayaks that were stolen some time between December 31, 3013 and January 3, 2014.

The two kayaks, pictured below, were stored adjacent to a property in the 5400 block of Parker Avenue, just north of Cordova Bay in Saanich. The kayaks had been covered by a tarp and were approximately 40 meters from the beach.

The kayaks are described as 11 feet in length, one blue in colour, and the other yellow in colour. The kayaks are constructed with rigid plastic and are manufactured by Necky. Both of the stolen kayaks are Gannet models, valued at approximately $1000 to $1200 in new condition.

It is believed that someone accessed the kayaks from the beach and may have used a vehicle to transport the kayaks from a nearby beach access.

Anyone who may have information relating to this theft, or who may have information about the whereabouts of these kayaks, are asked to contact Saanich Police at 250-475-4321, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
