Armed Robbery At Bank Under Investigation

Saanich Police Detectives are investigating a robbery that occurred at the Bank of Montreal in the 3400 block of Cook Street, near the intersection of Quadra Street.

At approximately 12:40 p.m., an unidentified male entered the bank and made demands of a teller after producing what appeared to be a handgun. The bank staff responded to the demand, providing the suspect with an undisclosed amount of cash, at which time the male fled from the bank in an unknown direction.

The suspect male is described as a Caucasian male in his late thirties or early forties, approximately 5’7″ to 5’8″ inches in height, slender build approximately 175 pounds, with dark hair that was combed back. The hair length appeared to be approximately neck length, with some curl where the hair ended near the neck line.

At the time of the incident, the suspect male was dressed in business attire, wearing dress shoes, a black suit with white pinstripes, a white dress shirt with no tie, and yellow gloves. The male was also wearing dark rimmed glasses, and had what appeared to be about three days of facial hair growth.

Investigators are still in the early stages of the investigation.

Anyone that may have been in the area around the time of this incident that may have seen the suspect are asked to contact the Saanich Police Department at 250-475-4321.
