The Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit (VIIMCU) and the Saanich Police Detective Division are investigating two sudden deaths that appear to have occurred this afternoon.
Shortly after 2:30 p.m., Saanich Police received information which prompted Police to respond to a residence in the 1800 block of Newton Street. Investigation at that location located a deceased female inside of a residence.
Approximately one hour later, members of the Oak Bay Police Department located a male in the waters off of Cattle Point in the Municipality of Oak Bay. The male was submerged in the water and appeared to be deceased.
This investigation is in the preliminary stages. The identity of the male and female, including their ages, will not be released at this time. The identity of both of the deceased have yet to be confirmed.
Investigators do not believe that there is any apparent risk to the public at this time.
Investigators will be continuing with the investigation into the evening and hope to be in a better position to share further details tomorrow.
