Operation “Target Paint Out” **Postponed due to weather**

**  Please be advised that this event will be postponed due to the weather.  The event will be rescheduled in the future.**

The Saanich Police Department Community Liaison Division will be out in force to support a community engagement initiative along with support from the community.

Constable Mark Pamminger, a member of the Saanich Police Mountain Bike Section, has been the graffiti coordinator for the Department since moving to the unit. While riding in various areas around Saanich, Cst. Pamminger has the opportunity to observe and record areas that have been affected by graffiti. A common location to find “tags” and other forms of graffiti was noted to be on utility and hydro poles throughout the Municipality.

Constable Pamminger approached BC Hydro and asked if there would be a possibility of obtaining paint for the hydro poles in the area to curtail the graffiti and eliminate the existing “tags”. BC Hydro generously donated the painting supplies.

Working with community partners, Constable Pamminger arranged for a “Paint Out” – an organised event where volunteers from the community could come together to work towards cleaning up graffiti in the neighbourhood.

Staff members from the Target store located at Tillicum Mall, many of whom are actively involved in various community engagement programs, readily accepted the invitation to help out with the “Paint Out”.

As a result, the official “Target Paint Out” has been planned to paint Hydro and utility poles in the neighbourhood surrounding Tillicum Mall.

Where: Upper parking lot of Tillicum Mall near the entrance to the Target Store

When: Wednesday, August 13, commencing at 11:00 a.m. thru to 3:00 p.m.
