Minor Collision In Police Parking Lot Leads to Charges

Officers at the Saanich Police Department were surprised on Thursday afternoon by a visitor to the parking area behind the police building.

At approximately 3 pm a 43 year old female from the Nanaimo area was involved in a low speed collision with an unoccupied parked vehicle.

Damage to the parked vehicle was estimated at under $1000 damage.

An off duty officer observed the collision and noted that the driver appeared to be under the influence of alcohol.

The female driver was detained for an Impaired Driving investigation.

Although efforts were made to obtain breath samples, the driver refused to provide samples. She was later released on a Promise To Appear with recommended charges of Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Failing or Refusing to Provide Breath Samples.
