Afternoon Brush Fire Causes Heavy Smoke

Saanich Police Department and Saanich Fire are still investigating a brush and grass fire that occurred this afternoon in Camrose Park, near the 3300 block of Maplewood.

Numerous emergency personell remain on scene. The fire appears to be contained to the area of the park at this time.

The brush/grass fire caused heavy smoke in the area, and numerous reports were received from the public.

The cause of the fire is not yet known and is still under investigation.

Area residents are being asked to remain within their homes as a result of heavy smoke in the area.

The 3300 block of Maplewood between Camrose Crescent and Cook Street remains closed to traffic at this time.
