Overnight Residential Break-In Results In Stabbing

Saanich Police Detectives Division are investigating an overnight break and enter that resulted in one occupant of a home suffering from an apparent stab wound.

In the early morning hours of Tuesday, September 22, approximately 2:20 a.m., the residents of a home in the 3900 block of St. Peters Road reported that someone had broken into the family home. A male resident confronted the suspects while they were inside the home and a struggle ensued.

At some point during the struggle, one of the suspects stabbed the resident in the upper body resulting in a non-life threatening injury. A second resident of the home attempted to assist to restrain one of the suspects, however the suspect was able to break free and flee the home.

The victim was transported to hospital where he was treated for his injuries and released.

“Although it is early in the investgation, it would appear that the suspects were attempting to commit a break and enter at the home”. Sgt. Steve Eassie said.

Investigators are looking to identify the individuals responsible for this incident. It would appear, based on witness information obtained so far, that there were a number of suspects, one of whom fled in a vehicle.

A Saanich Police K9 team responded to the incident and located several items of interest in the immediate area that may have been discarded by the suspects.

The suspect vehicle has been located. Investigators obtained a search warrant for the vehicle and have concluded their search of the vehicle for evidence.

This investigation is ongoing. The identities of the suspects have not yet been determined.
