7 more B&E’s in the Shelbourne corridor/University Heights area

In January 2016 Saanich Police reported a series of 14 Break and Enters in the Shelbourne St corridor/University Heights area dating back to November 25, 2015.  Since January 5, 2016 there had been no further incidents reported until last week.

Between February 7th and February 14th, 2016 Saanich Police have received 7 more reports of Break and Enters in this same area (Shelbourne St corridor/University Heights area).  The majority of these Break and Enters have been reported in the late afternoon hours and into the early evening.

In all of these newly reported Break and Enters entry was gained via patio doors.  It appears in some cases the locking mechanisms were faulty or, in other cases, the patio door lock was easily defeated.

“We cannot say, with certainty, that all of these incidents are related or involve the same suspect however there appears to be a similar pattern” A/Sgt. Jereme Leslie said.  “In all of the new Break and Enters entry has been gained via the ground floor patio door.”

Saanich Police want to remind the public to make sure their homes are secured and valuables are out of sight when they leave.  Police also suggest homeowners inspect the locks on their doors and windows to ensure they are in working order.

Anyone who may have further information about these incidents are asked to contact the Saanich Police Department at 250-475-4321 or Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
