Break and Enters Continue on the Shelbourne St Corridor/University Heights Area – Updated April 6

Updated on April 6, 2016

In January 2016 Saanich Police reported a series of Break and Enters in the Shelbourne St Corridor/University Heights area that dated back to November 2015.  In February 2016 Saanich Police reported again on more Break and Enters in the same area.

Over the past weekend there were 8 more B&E’s in this same area.  In all of these newly reported Break and Enters entry was gained via patio doors.  It appears in some cases the locking mechanisms were faulty or, in other cases, the patio door lock was easily defeated.

“It appears as if there is a similar fact pattern in all of these Break and Enters” A/Sgt. Jereme Leslie said.  “The ground floor sliding patio doors have been the point of entry in these Break-in’s. We are encouraging people to check their locks, in particular, sliding patio doors.”

Saanich Police want to remind the public to make sure their homes are secured and valuables are out of sight when they leave.  Police also suggest homeowners inspect the locks on their doors and windows to ensure they are in working order.

Anyone who may have further information about these incidents are asked to contact the Saanich Police at 250-475-4321 or Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
