On Monday March 13, 2017 at around 3:15PM an 11 year old boy was walking home from school through a trail system, in Swan Creek Park, when he was approached by an unknown man. The man walked up behind the boy, reached out, tapped him on the shoulder and said “You’re coming with me”. The boy turned around, saw the man and then ran away. Once the boy was at home Saanich Police were contacted.
The man is described as a white man, in his 20’s with a red goatee. The man was wearing jeans, black shoes, and a black pull over hoodie with a kangaroo style pocket on the front.
Saanich Police are reminding parents to talk with their kids about how to recognize potentially dangerous situations. Some tips include: teaching your kids to trust their instincts, telling kids that it’s okay to say no to an adult, not keeping secrets and talking with a trusted adult about things they find suspicious.
