Background:
On Saturday June 3, 2017 at around 10:20pm, Saanich Police responded to a motor vehicle incident on Wilkinson Road at Glen Tara Lane, close to the intersection of Wilkinson and Interurban. Two vehicles were involved in the crash, yet one vehicle fled the scene prior to police arrival.
The victim vehicle was traveling south on Wilkinson Rd and appears to have been rear-ended by the suspect vehicle. The victim vehicle then traveled further along the roadway colliding with a parked Jeep Cherokee. The driver of the vehicle was transported to hospital with what initially appeared to be minor injuries. However, the victim has been downgraded and is now in serious condition at hospital.
Police at the scene were able to obtain damaged parts from the suspect vehicle. The suspect vehicle is believed to be a White KIA Optima sedan.
Update:
After the media release was distributed the driver of the suspect vehicle has come forward and reported they were the other party involved in the crash. Saanich Police have since seized the suspect vehicle and the investigation into the criminal code offense of failing to stop at the scene of an accident continues, no arrests have been made. The driver of the victim vehicle remains in hospital in serious condition.
