Three Fires Deliberately Set

Saanich Police, along with Saanich Fire, attended three intentionally set fires over the course of Friday night and into Saturday morning.  The first fire was reported at around 9pm on February 22, 2019 next to Staples on Tolmie Avenue.  A chair had been lit on fire between the building and a row of bushes.  Thankfully staff from Staples noticed the fire and rapidly extinguished it before it damaged anything else.

The second and third fires were set in dumpsters just before 4am on February 23, 2019.  One was behind Save-on-Foods on Blanshard Street and the other across the street at 894 Vernon Avenue.  Both of these fires were put out by Saanich Fire, resulting in damage to the dumpsters but not to any of the surrounding area.

Investigators are looking for anyone with information on who may have set these fires to contact the Saanich Police at 250-475-4321 or to remain anonymous, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
