Window Broken at School District Office 20-24213

On October 22, 2020, at approximately 10:00 a.m. staff inside Greater Victoria School District #61 in the 500 block of Boleskine Road heard a loud bang and discovered a hole in one of the exterior windows of the building.

Saanich Police officers quickly attended and located a metal ball-bearing outside near the broken window. The impact created a small hole and crack in the window however the projectile did not enter the building. Ball-bearings of this type are commonly used with slingshots.

Staff inside were not physically injured and police officers conducted a safety sweep of the grounds. Efforts are underway to determine if any video surveillance is available in the immediate vicinity and additionally, investigators are asking for any witnesses who may have been in the area around 10:00 a.m. or shortly thereafter to contact them at 250-475-4321.


While we are unsure of the reason behind this incident, this appears to be an isolated event as there have not been any similar incidents reported in Saanich this year.
