File: 20-26221

Saanich Police arrested a man this morning who allegedly assaulted a BC Transit bus operator after being asked to get off the bus in the 1600 block of Cedar Hill Cross Road.

On November 16, 2020, just before 8:30 a.m. the man, who was sitting on the bus, began to yell profanities at another individual who had just sat down. When the bus arrived at the next stop, the operator asked the suspect to leave.

The suspect refused to leave the bus, approached the operator, began yelling profanities and tried to initiate a fight. The suspect then reached around the clear safety divider in an attempt to assault the operator. A physical altercation ensued between both parties, after which the suspect finally left the bus.

A 34-year-old man was arrested by Saanich Police officers and is facing one count of assault. The operator was not physically injured.
