Each year, Crime Stoppers International recognizes a number of individuals, programs, activities and campaigns from around the world for excellence and for their contribution to the achievement of the Crime Stoppers International vision – to mobilize the world to report information on crime and criminals, anonymously.

In 2019, the work carried out by the Greater Victoria Crime Stoppers led to the arrest of 38 individuals, which was more than double the arrests the program accounted for the year prior. For their outstanding and significant contribution to the program, they were recognized internationally and awarded the Productivity Award based on this increase in arrests whilst serving a population between 300,000 and 1 million. This is their fourth award in three years!

The Greater Victoria Crime Stoppers program provides a safe and completely anonymous environment for the public to provide information to be shared with the police to help solve crime in our community. They are not the police, nor do the police have any influence on the program. Two civilian Program Coordinators here in the Victoria area run the registered not-for-profit organization which is overseen by a volunteer Board of Directors.

“The Greater Victoria Crime Stoppers Program provides a tremendous contribution to public safety. With last year’s increase in tips received and arrests made, along with continued international recognition, it demonstrates that this a highly valued program within our community.” Chief Constable Scott Green.
