The Saanich Police are investigating a report of a Sexual Assault that occurred last night in Glanford Park located in the 600 block of Kenneth St at Glanford Ave.
The victim, a 19-year-old female was accosted by an unknown male while she was walking in the park at approximately 8:30 pm last night.
The incident is being investigated by the Saanich Police Patrol and Detective Divisions, and the public are being urged to use caution if walking in this area.
The victim was able to fight off the assailant, who appeared to be intoxicated. The suspect, described as a white male, approximately 40 years of age and wearing multiple layers of clothing, approached the victim and was stumbling when walking. After successfully getting away from the suspect, the victim was able to get to safety and the incident was reported to the police. A response by Saanich Patrol and K9 failed to locate the suspect in the area. Police will be conducting further enquires, included a neighbourhood canvass and a search for potential video surveillance in the area.
