The Saanich Police Department is proud to announce the grand opening of the new Community Safety Office on April 21st, 2022, at 11 a.m. This office will be the flagship of the Community Engagement Division and will allow the Saanich Police to expand their community policing functions to more community-based safety initiatives, projects, and programming.
The Community Safety Office will create opportunities for like-minded community members to become more involved and engages them as volunteers in community and prevention programming. We truly believe that this will be a community office, run by the community, and for the benefit of the community.
A team of dedicated volunteers will assist the Coordinator of Crime Prevention Programs by sharing information and connecting people with the resources they need. The location of this office is at Uptown, Unit 111-3680 Uptown Blvd. This convenient location is on the northwest side of the mall, facing Carey Road (behind Brown’s Social House).
The Community Safety Office will deliver current core programming including Block Watch, Speed Watch, Cell Watch, Lock Out Auto Crime, Saanich Police “Ace” Mascot Program, Community Safety Office Volunteers and Crime Prevention Workers and Volunteers.
The office will also offer a broad spectrum of information and resources with respect to multiple programs and agencies including fraud prevention, elder abuse, victims of crime programs, cyber-crime, cyber-bullying, home security and pedestrian and bike safety.
Although the initial quest for start-up volunteers has ended, we will be regularly looking for dedicated volunteers to join our team. For more information, go to joinspd.ca and click “Apply Now” or email [email protected]
After the grand opening, the Community Safety Office will be open to the public Monday to Friday, from 10 am to 4 pm.
We look forward to welcoming you to the Community Safety Office.
