Detectives Investigate Disturbing Sex Assault

Yesterday, Saanich Police Detectives were called to investigate a disturbing assault of a sexual nature. The victim was assaulted multiple times overnight, Friday, March 26th in a vehicle.

The victim had been at a party and was walking to a second party with a group of friends.  She became separated from her group in the area of Cedar Hill Cross road and Cedar Hill road sometime between 10:00 to 10:30pm.

At that time, the victim was approached by a male from a passing vehicle. The male forced her into the rear of a 4 door vehicle with three other males inside.

The victim, a 20 year old Victoria resident, received minor injuries and is deeply traumatized by this incident. She is receiving support from workers of the Victoria Women’s Sexual Assault Centre.

Saanich Police Detectives would like to remind women in our community to be conscious of their personal safety. Some personal safety suggestions include:

  1. Travel in groups and stick to well lit areas.
  2. Keep your cell phone on your person.
  3. Don’t accept drinks from people you don’t know and be mindful of leaving your drink unattended.
  4. If you are drinking, plan a safe ride home with people you know or by cab. If using public transit, travel with friends.
