Cordova Bay house fire

Yesterday morning, at about 8:30am, smoke was reported from a residence in the 4700 block of Carloss place in Cordova Bay. The fire was discovered by an alert neighbour who saw the smoke and contacted 9-1-1.

Saanich Fire Department crews were dispatched to the scene and a short time later the assistance of the Saanich Police was requested. The fire was immediately felt to be suspicious by firefighters given that there were multiple points of ignition and some other mischief done to the property.

Throughout the day yesterday Saanich Police Forensic Technicians, Detectives and Saanich Fire Investigators were at the scene. Late yesterday evening detectives executed a search warrant at the residence to further facilitate the investigation and to collect evidence.

The investigation continues and the scene remains behind police tape as of this afternoon. Damage estimates are believed over $100,000.00.
