This afternoon at about 1:30pm, members of the Saanich Police Street Crime Unit entered a residence in the 1800 block of Lansdowne road. With the assistance of members of the Greater Victoria Emergency Response Team, a warrant was served without incident.
The warrant was as a result of information from BC Hydro revealed that electricity at the residence was being stolen. A search warrant was prepared for theft and it was confirmed upon entering that the meter was being bypassed.
While officers were in the residence, a marihuana cultivation operation was discovered. It is described as being significant in size and occupies a large portion of the residence.
At present, officers remain on scene while an application is being made to obtain a warrant under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
Two women were taken into custody and a minor child was discovered in the residence.
