The chip bandits

At about 3:15am this morning, Saanich Police were called to a residence in the 2900 block of Foul Bay road by a whispering homeowner. A woman who lives alone was awoken by her growling chihuahua. She then heard voices and suspected a break-in.

When the homeowner went to use her phone to call police she realized her cell phone was in the living room. Despite being fearful, she creeped into the living room to retrieve her phone and called 9-1-1.

Multiple Saanich Police unites responded to the area to set up containment. A police K9 was also deployed to track the thieves. Upon arriving, it was found that the garage door had been left open by the daughter.

When the homeowner was asked to have a look at the garage to see what was missing, she determined that her box of BBQ flavour chips had been taken along with some fabric.

A short time later, two local females, 22 and 24 years old, were arrested. Both were found to be highly intoxicated. It appears the effervescent chips seen shimmering in the moonlight were too yummy to pass up when you have the munchies.

Given the level of intoxication both were held overnight for their own well being.

Charges of Break and Enter are being considered but diversionary options are being considered by the investigators.
