Early Morning Armed Robbery With Firearm

The Petro-Canada station near Elk Lake was robbed at gunpoint this morning at 4 a.m. This gas station and store is located on the Pat Bay Highway (Hwy 17) at Sayward Road.

The lone 34 year old female store employee is very shaken up but she did not get hurt.

A lone man thought to be in his 30’s entered the store carrying a handgun. He demanded money and fled on foot after receiving a small, undisclosed sum of cash.

Numerous Saanich Police units responded along with Saanich and Victoria K9 units. The man was not located. Police believe that he may have had access to a vehicle somewhere in the area.

The initial suspect description is as follows:

A Caucasian male in his 30’s, approx 5’7″ with a thin build and short dark brown hair.

Tattoos on both sides of his neck, on the top of both hands and on his left inside forearm. He is believed to have a notable black eye – to his right eye.

He was wearing a trucker-style ball cap coloured green on the front and yellow on the back, a black shirt and black jeans. He was last seen running south near the highway.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Saanich Police or Crime Stoppers.
