The Saanich Police Department is supporting an initiative of the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police that encourages the safe disposal of expired or unused prescriptions or vitamins.
This Saturday, May 10th, is being recognized as the National Prescription Drug Drop Off Day. Members of the public are encouraged to check their homes and properly dispose of unused or expired prescription drugs and vitamins at participating local pharmacies.
While this is a nationally recognized campaign, British Columbia is unique. Most local pharmacies will accept any unused or expired pills, prescription or over the counter medication, and vitamins at any time.
This is the second annual National Prescription Drug Drop-Off day. Last year, over two tonnes of medication was collected across the country.
If you have unused or expired medication, you are encouraged to dispose of the medication properly by visiting one of the local pharmacies listed below. This can help to avoid misuse of these medications, or accidental poisonings.
