Unknown Suspect Threatens Cyclist With A Knife

On Monday, March 9, at approximately 7:30 p.m., Saanich Police received a call from a 22 year old male who reported that he had just been threatened with a knife during a verbal altercation with another male.

The cyclist reported that he was walking his bicycle near a pathway in the 4000 block of Dawnview Crescent in the Gordon Head area of Saanich. The complainant was on the phone at the time of the incident and was verbally challenged by the unknown suspect.

The cyclist responded to the unknown suspect at which time to the suspect pulled out a knife and began moving towards cyclist. The knife was described as a four inch folding knife. The cyclist positioned his bicycle between himself and wasd able to distance himself from the suspect. The suspect made further comment to the cyclist, something to the effect of “that’s what I thought”, and casually walked away from the area. The suspect male was last seen on a pathway walking towards Mckenzie Avenue.

Numerous officers, including a K9 officer and his partner, responded to the area. Due to a relatively high number of pedestrians in the immediate area, the K9 was not deployed.

Nobody fitting the description was located in the area.

The suspect was described as a Caucasian male, approximately 20 years of age, 5’10” to 6’ tall, thin build. At the time of the incident, the male was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt t with red accents (with the hood pulled up), light coloured blue jeans, and light coloured running shoes.
