Saanich Police are warning residents living on large or rural properties of a rash of break-ins that occurred between Tuesday March 10th and Wednesday March 11th.
At least four properties were entered in the 200 and 300 block of Stevens Road at some time during the evening hours.
“It has been reported that numerous vehicles were entered, as well as several outbuildings and sheds, at least two garages, and one actual residence” Sgt. Steve Eassie said. “This is a lot of activity for one area within one night”.
A common theme found from all of the investigations was that the vehicles, sheds, and garages were left unlocked. In the one investigation, where a mud room of a residence was entered, a key for the home had been left in an unlocked vehicle and had been used to gain entry to the home.
As a result, there have been a total of four bicycles reported as stolen, as well as loose change from several cars.
A vehicle that had been stored with the keys inside an unlocked garage was also stolen. The vehicle has not yet been recovered. It is described as a 2006 Honda Ridgeline truck, white in colour. At the time of the theft, it was bearing BC licence plate # 3646LL.
“We are putting this information out to the public as a reminder for residents to secure their homes, sheds, garages and vehicles” Eassie said.
