Saanich neighbourhood drug home busted

In January 2016 the Saanich Police Drug Section and Property Crime Unit began an investigation into a suspected drug home in the 3600 block of Craigmillar Ave.  On March 22, 2016 Saanich Police, with the assistance of the Greater Victoria Emergency Response Team, arrested 3 people for drug trafficking.  The individuals were arrested without incident.

After the individuals had been arrested Saanich Police, who had obtained a search warrant, performed a search of the home on Craigmillar Ave.  Police located marijuana, methamphetamine, and a number of weapons.

One man and one woman, both residents of the Greater Victoria area, were released and will appear in court at the beginning of May.  The other person arrested, 41 year old Jamie Aaron Dougall of Saanich, was held in custody and is facing one count of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.  The investigation still continues and Officers expect to lay more charges in the future.

“This is an area a block away from a local park that is well used by everyone in the community” said A/Sgt. Jereme Leslie. “This is an example of a criminal setting up a drug operation in a quiet residential area to avoid detection.   Our Officers are targeting criminals, such as these ones, to ensure our Saanich community remains safe.”
