Hit and Run Vehicle Sought by Police

Saanich Police are seeking the public’s assistance in locating the driver of a vehicle involved in a motor vehicle incident last night.

At approximately 1020pm, Saanich Police responded to a motor vehicle incident on Wilkinson Road at Glen Tara Lane, close to the intersection of Wilkinson and Interurban.  Two vehicles were involved in the crash, yet one vehicle fled the scene prior to police arrival.

The victim vehicle was traveling south on Wilkinson and appears to have been rear-ended by the suspect vehicle.  The victim vehicle then traveled further along the roadway colliding with a parked Jeep Cherokee.  The driver of the vehicle was transported to hospital with what initially appeared to be minor injuries.  However, the victim has been downgraded and is now in serious condition at hospital. It is believe the victim may not have been wearing a seatbelt when struck in her 2012 Smart car.

Police at the scene were able to obtain damaged parts from the suspect vehicle.  The suspect vehicle is believed to be a White KIA Optima sedan.  Investigation continues and police are hoping to determine a model year for the suspect car.  The suspect vehicle will have sustained front end damage and police are hoping a member of the public will be able to assist police in locating the vehicle and driver of the suspect car.

S/Sgt. Chris Horsley

The owner of this vehicle is urged to contact police on their own accord to provide the details of the incident.
