VIIMCU Takes Conduct of Assault File With Life Threatening Injuries

On September 29, 2018, the Saanich Police responded to the 3900 block of Carey Road for a report of a 41 year old victim of an assault who sustained life threating injuries. Officers cordoned off areas near a residence on Carey Road in Saanich and a residence on Granderson Road in Langford.

Given the nature of the injuries of the victim, the Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit (VIIMCU) has taken conduct of the investigation. Investigators from VIIMCU and the Saanich Police have continued their investigation throughout the night and into the early morning hours. Investigators will be continuing to follow up in both locations over the coming days.

The investigation remains in its early stages. It is believed all those associated to the incident were known to each other. One person was taken into custody a short time after the incident. Investigators do not believe there is any risk to the public.

At approximately 3:15 pm on September 29, 2018, a BC Transit bus Route 30 was travelling on Carey Road. Investigators are asking any passengers who believe they may have seen the incident or persons associated to the incident to come forward and speak with police.
