Saanich Police have been investigating a sexual assault that occurred on the Lochside Trail on September 6, 2021. On that date, the survivor was walking on the trail at approximately 7:30 pm when the suspect approached from behind and committed a sexual assault. The suspect was last seen walking north toward Saanich Road.
On November 21, 2021, the suspect was spotted on the Galloping Goose Trail near Swan Lake and was taken into custody by our officers without issue. The man, 33, was later released with a court date in early 2022 and several police-imposed conditions. Investigators are recommending one count of Sexual Assault.
