Purse Snatched From Female Walking On Public Trail

On Sunday, June 23, at approximately 5:00 pm, Saanich Police were contacted and advised of a robbery that had just occurred on one of the walking trails near Cuthbert Holmes Park.

A 70 year old female was walking alone along one of the pathways and was approached by an unknown male.  The male grabbed the purse from the female and fled on foot with the victim following close behind.

The victim lost sight of the suspect as he ran through the breezeway between the arena and the movie theater in the direction of the lower parking lot of Tillicum Mall. 

The male was described as a Hispanic male, approximately 20 years old, slight build, short brown hair, wearing a green t-shirt and blue jeans at the time of the incident.

The purse and its contents were recovered in the breezeway where the male was last seen.  At this time it is not known if there are any items that have been stolen from the purse.

The victim in this incident was not injured.

Area residents are being asked to be on the lookout for anyone matching this description.  Anyone that may be walking through the area is also reminded to be aware of their surroundings and walk in the company of another person if possible to do so.
