A resident of the 700 block of Newberry Street in Saanich returned from vacation to find that a Zodiac inflatable boat and motor were missing from the dock at the rear of his property.
The boat had been secured to the dock with boat lines which appeared to have been cut and left behind by the culprits. The apparent theft occurred between August 5 and August 22.
The Zodiac was described as being 10 feet 6 inches in length, light grey in colour, with a 9.9 horsepower Honda outboard motor. The boat was marked with licence number WN0925NK on the top edge of the boat. (Please see attached photo).
There was no evidence to suggest that the boat and motor had been removed from the waterway at the origin of the theft. It is likely that the boat would have been removed from the property by using the waterway of Portage Inlet, and perhaps the Gorge waterway.
Anyone with information relating to the theft of the boat, or its current whereabouts, are asked to contact Saanich Police at 250-475-4321, or Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
