An early morning collision involving a vehicle and a utility pole resulted in thousands of dollars in damages.

On Monday, August 11, at approximately 2:35, an area resident in the 3300 block of Maplewood Road reported hearing what they believed to be a collision. When the resident exited their home, they observed a wooden utility pole that had been sheared off and pulled from the ground as a result of a collision with a vehicle.

The suspect vehicle failed to remain at the scene. Despite efforts from numerous responding police members, the vehicle involved in the collision was not located.

Saanich Fire Department personnel and crews from BC Hydro attended to the scene to replace the pole and fix the electrical service to area homes.

Investigation into the collision revealed that the vehicle involved was likely a dark green Hummer.

“Our investigators are looking to speak to anyone that has knowledge about this incident, or about the whereabouts of the vehicle involved” Sgt.
