Drugs and sawed-off shotgun seized – 3 people charged

During the month of June 2017 Officers from the Saanich Police Department’s Drug and Property Crime Section and the Sidney/North Saanich RCMP began an investigation into a suspected drug trafficker.  Officers believed the suspected drug trafficker was trafficking drugs not only in Saanich but throughout the greater Victoria area.

On June 28, 2017 Officers watched the suspect, along with two others, conduct a number of what was believed to be drug deals.  Saanich Police, with the assistance of the Victoria Police Department, stopped the individuals and arrested two men and one woman in the 2600 block of Douglas St.  During the arrest Officers located methamphetamine, cocaine, heroin, cash, ammunition and a sawed-off shotgun.

“This is another example of how our various Police agencies work together during the course of our investigations” said Sgt. Dean Jantzen. “We all have a common goal of keeping our communities safe and getting drugs and guns off our streets is a high priority.”

Arrested were 32 year old Michael Phillip Desbiens of Sidney BC, 42 year old James Derosier of Victoria and 26 year old Marin Elyse Marie Gillis of Saanich.  Desbiens and Derosier appeared in Victoria Provincial Court on June 29th and Gillis will appear in court in mid August.

The parties are facing multiple drug charges and firearm related offences.
