Detectives Seek Information on Unprovoked Assaults 20-12859 and 20-12861

August 4, 2020

Saanich Police Detectives are investigating a series of unprovoked assaults by a man on several people not known to him over the past year in Saanich. We have been successful in identifying the man, in his 30’s, responsible for some of these incidents.

As the investigation is on-going, detectives are still looking for the victims and witnesses from two additional assaults that were reported to police in June this year.

The first occurred on June 12, 2020 between 10:30 p.m. and 11:00 p.m at the Esso Gas station at the corner of McKenzie Avenue and Shelbourne Street.

The second also occurred on June 12, 2020 at approximately 11:00 p.m. in the area of Shelbourne Street and Kenmore Road.

In both cases our officers attended the area but were not able to locate any of the victims.

“We believe there are two to three people that were victims of an assault or attempted assault that evening and are hoping they are able to come forward and speak to us. If you were the victim of either of these assaults, we understand that this might be difficult for you however, we are here to support you and will work with you through the process.”

Please contact the Saanich Police Department General Investigation Section at 250-475-4321.
