Thief feels the heat and turns himself in

Thanks to pressure from the publicity, a male turns himself in to West Shore RCMP for the Broadmead Liquor store break-in.

On August 28th, at about 11:30pm, a commercial alarm was activated at the Broadmead Liquor store. Saanich Police Patrol officers and K9 arrived to investigate. They found that the front doors had been forced open and the store had been entered.

Stolen were 6 bottles of Captain Morgan rum and 7 bottles of Gran Marnier.

Investigators obtained video from the both the interior and exterior cameras. Footage was shared publicly showing the thieves.

Thanks to this publicity a 26 year old male Colwood resident turned himself in to the Westsore RCMP on September 7th. He was arrested by a Saanich officer and transported to Saanich Police HQ.

The suspect provided a statement about his involvement in the commercial break-in. The suspect had been told that his picture was online and he had seen it. Apparently the liquor had been sold to friends for a small amount of money.

Suggested charges include break-in offences and mischief to property.
