Someone planning a party…

Yesterday morning, officers were called to the party rental store in the 3900 block of Quadra street for a weekend break-in. As it turns out, for the second weekend in a row, an exterior door lock had been tampered with and the premises entered. Both times, the store float had been stolen valued at about $200 each time.

Forensic investigators confirmed that some type of home-made implement had been used to slip between the door and the jamb. It was then used to manipulate the deadbolt open.

Unfortunately there are no suspects. If anybody knows anything about this incident they are encouraged to contact the Saanich Police at 250-475-4321 or Crimestoppers.

Local business owners are reminded to review their security procedures. Here are some suggestions.

• Have a locksmith examine your doors and locks

• Consider security film for glass doors, sidelights and vulnerable windows

• Review your alarms and the monitoring procedures

If you require advice as to security please contact Cst. Petra Dornblut, the Saanich Police Crime Prevention section at 250-475-4346.
