A sleeping couple in the 3100 block of Earl Grey Street were awakened at 3 a.m. in the morning of Monday, August 20th by the sound of their truck starting up in their driveway.
They called 9-1-1 and reported that their Toyota pickup truck had just been stolen and was being driven away.
Just ten minutes later a Saanich patrol officer spotted the stolen truck being driven south on Blanshard Street.
The truck was travelling slowly and continued to head south into Victoria. The Saanich officer was joined by Victoria Police officers a few minutes later.
The Saanich and Victoria officers teamed up and pulled the truck over near the intersection of Douglas and Hillside.
The driver was a 32 year old Saanich man and he arrested without incident.
He is facing charges of theft, possession of stolen property and driving while prohibited.
The man has a minor criminal record for similar offences.
Police picked up the truck owner at home and drove him over to the scene of the arrest, where he got his truck back very quickly and undamaged.
