Series of B&E’s and Thefts at UVIC & Camosun

In December 2016 Officers from the Saanich Police Property Crime Section began an investigation into a reported series of Break and Enters and thefts that occurred at both the University of Victoria and Camosun College.

In total there were five locker thefts that occurred at Camosun College in late November 2016 and four break and enters reported at the University of Victoria between December 9-12, 2016.  Saanich Police Property Crime Officers were able to obtain evidence from the various scenes and Officers from the Saanich Police Forensic Identification Unit were able to successfully identify a suspect.

In mid-December 2016 Saanich Police Property Crime Officers executed a search warrant in the 2300 block of McNeill Ave in Oak Bay.  Officers recovered over $3000 worth of items that had been stolen from both UVIC and Camosun.  Officers have been able to reunite all property with their rightful owners.

22 year old Constantin Martin Arthur Mitchell has currently been charged with one count of Break and Enter and two counts of being in possession of stolen property.  The accused has been released from custody on a number of conditions and is scheduled to appear in court again on January 18, 2017.
